When we visited the theater in Pompeii (where you could actually climb up the steps), I was thinking about how it'd be a lot trickier with a bit of wine in you. :) But yeah, the Colosseum is impressive, imposing, and somber. I think a tour of the basement level would convey the tragedy of the lives lost even more than access to the regular viewing areas can.Katrina Elisabethttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15083877882755665975noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2304636801774028050.post-71975591675239881192014-09-09T21:46:32.832-04:002014-09-09T21:46:32.832-04:00It's a bummer when time constraints cut into s...It's a bummer when time constraints cut into sight-seeing! In all seriousness, I didn't really enjoy the inside of Collosseo - I was hoping it would be fun and light (I have no clue why I thought this...) and instead I found it extremely sad and overwhelming in the lives that were lost there. I did manage to see it up close from the outside and all around it from the view of my taxi window, but from these photos it looks as though the real magnificence is inside! At the time I wasn't too bothered about missing it but now I'm feeling like I've definitely missed out, haha.Owenhttp://www.owenyue.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2304636801774028050.post-15123195041029444532014-09-07T05:53:13.879-04:002014-09-07T05:53:13.879-04:00So funny! After we'd been wandering around for about an hour, I told hubby that I wished I had an audioguide. It turns out that he'd been listening to Rick Steves' podcast the whole time and hadn't shared it with me! So, we hung around a little longer so that I could have a turn. I really wish I could have done the basement tour, but I will have to save that for the next time I visit.Michele {Malaysian Meanders}https://www.blogger.com/profile/18313351463568423694noreply@blogger.com
