Mapping My Month: May 2014

New calendar page; The Giant Steps Waterfall in Banff National Park,
Alberta, Canada
The beginning of the month always excites me.  It's an opportunity to reflect on the month just passed and to anticipate the opportunities and adventures of the new month.  This month is no different!  The stress of the end of the month closing has nearly passed (all my fellow accountants out there will know what I mean!), and the calendar page is brand spanking new - ready to be filled and enjoyed!

To be sure, April had its highlights, although not much in the way of traveling.  We spent two weekends at the Northern Neck doing yard and housework at a friend's river house, hosted a bridal shower for my brother's fiancee, enjoyed time with family at Easter, and had a roaring awesome time at the NASCAR race here in Richmond last weekend.  It's been busy, though, and May promises to be more of the same!

We'll be taking a weekend trip to Boston for a wedding; doing some go-karting, paintballing, and/or target shooting for my brother's co-ed bachelor party; exploring Cascade Falls while on a camping trip up in the Appalachians of western Virginia; celebrating three sisters' birthdays and the anniversaries of parents and grandparents; escaping to the Chesapeake Bay at least once for fishing, crabbing, boating, and beaching; and who knows what else will spring up last minute?!

Meanwhile we are still anxiously counting down the days to our big summer vacation in Italy and Germany.  Where's the fast forward button when you need it?!

How's your May shaping up?  Any plans?
