Country Roads, Take Me Home

A few weeks ago, a dear friend and I took a Sunday afternoon stroll down the quiet country roads of my home county.  I wish photos could capture the freshness of the breeze, the smell of the wildflowers, the thrumming of the woodpeckers, and the motions of the butterflies.  Everyone ought to take a relaxing walk at least once a week as a reminder that life is made up not just of the "big" moments, but these small, beautiful, little ones.

"The road goes ever on and on, down from the door where it began..."

What do the roads near your house look like?

Sometimes it's the little things that really make a difference and those small moments can leave big impacts.

  4. These photos are so pretty.. it looks so relaxing and lie on the grasses and look up the sky while the tiny grasshoppers all over your hair. I miss that too.

    1. You make it sound so delightful! And it is... until the ants start biting and the mosquitoes start feasting. :D But I'd take country streets over city any day! (At least for daily living; I do like visiting the city!)

  5. I would trade any and all "big" moments for this moment. I love Virginia on a summer day - the smells, the feeling, even the humidity! This made my day and now I'm SOOOO excited for my trip home!

  6. Those country roads are gorgeous - especially where the horses are grazing! There's nothing but traffic and noise on the roads near my home, but we're looking forward to quieter roads in the near future!

  7. I live in a city so no romantic walks like these. While I probably could do this for a week or two, eventually I'll crave the big city again. So gorgeous! Thanks for linking up to the #SundayTraveler!
